David Glidden, WR/PR, Oklahoma State – 2016

Positives: Was a redshirt senior, so he doesn’t lack experience. Runs with above-average speed and quickness. Above-average routes and runs crisply. Above-average body control, and can extend and adjust pretty well. Above-average concentration on contested passes in traffic. Willing to go over the middle. Can hold the ball with a hit at times. Consistently good effort for extra yards. Is difficult to tackle in the open field. Willing downfield blocker. Tracks pretty well over his outside shoulder. Fair punt return fielding decisions.

Negatives: Small for the position. Inconsistent hands, and has some trouble extending, and will also body catch. Injured ankle and hamstring in 2012.

Projection: Undrafted free agent.

Dajé Johnson, WR/RB/PR, Texas – 2016

Positives: Runs with above-average speed and quickness. Okay hands and concentration on contested passes. Fair balance after contact. Is able to adjust to passes thrown off target.

Negatives: Dances too much in the backfield and will lose yards trying to make a big play. Slow into and out of his breaks as a route runner. Runs out of control and will slip coming out of his breaks. Not much of a downfield blocker. Below-average hands on punt returns. Below-average ball security and doesn’t protect the ball well when running through traffic. Sprained left ankle in September 2013 and missed a few weeks. Ruled academically ineligible for 2013 bowl game. Suspended first game of 2014 for team rule violation.

Projection: Undrafted free agent.

Keyarris Garrett, WR, Tulsa – 2016

Postseason events: NFL Combine and Shrine Game.

Positives: Good height and bulk for the position – nearly H-back size. Runs with above-average long speed in games and adequate track speed for the position. Generally above-average hands and can extend well. Good concentration in traffic and is able to make some very hard catches. Adjusts consistently well for the back-shoulder pass. Tracks consistently well over his inside shoulder and fairly well over his outside shoulder. Is nimble, and can tiptoe down the sidelines after contact. Has a good sense of when to get out of bounds in the two-minute drill. Falls forward after contact. Not easy to bring down after the catch. Adequate vertical leap. Above-average lower-body explosiveness in Combine drills. Adequate upper-body strength.

Negatives: Though he has good height and bulk, he has long, thin legs and below-average hand size. Doesn’t accelerate very well out of his breaks and has below-average lateral quickness. Has some lapses in concentration, though, and some fast passes will go through his hands – a tendency that also showed up in the gauntlet drill at the Combine. Lets some passes get to his body. Suspect balance making big cuts in the open field and looks the ball over defenders instead of go around him. Poor ability to change directions with burst in Combine drills. Broke leg in September 2013, had surgery, and missed rest of season. Minor foot injury kept him out of Shrine Game.

Projection: Round 5.

Jaydon Mickens, WR/KR, Washington – 2016

Postseason events: NFLPA Bowl.

Positives: Runs with above-average speed and acceleration. Excellent lateral quickness and jump cut and is very elusive in the open field – borne out by his testing numbers during his pro day (which were ridiculously good). Generally adequate hands and can extend when stationary. Seemed improved by NFLPA Bowl practices, where he extended for passes well. Above-average body control and can bring in passes while twisting. Gives good effort for off-target passes and over the middle in traffic. Not afraid to catch in traffic despite his lack of size. Above-average open field vision and patience. Runs with adequate track speed. Adequate upper-body strength. Adequate vertical leap and broad jump for the position.

Negatives: Below-average height for the position, with a slight build. Seems to misjudge passes in the air, and will sometimes mistime his jumps. Tends to body catch and drop some passes when he has to extend on the run. Will consistently slip trying to make a big cut – either after the catch or during his routes.

Projection: Round 7.

Jared Dangerfield, WR, Western Kentucky – 2016

Former junior college transfer.

Postseason events: Shrine Game.

Positives: Was a redshirt senior, so he doesn’t lack experience. Above-average height and bulk for the position, with a solid build and adequate hand size. Adequate speed and acceleration. Generally above-average hands and effort and can extend for passes away from his body and lay out to bring in passes at full extension. Concentrates very well on contested passes and passes in traffic. Tracks passes well over either shoulder. Fairly nimble on the sidelines. Adequate body control, and can twist to bring in passes thrown behind him. Adequate acceleration after the catch. Strong enough to be able to bowl over smaller defenders.

Negatives: Though his hands are above average, the ball will hit his hands hard at times. Below-average balance making cuts. Not deceptive in his routes. A little slow to stop his momentum on hitch routes. Needs to finish his routes, and will sometimes improvise. Below-average ball security in the open field. Needs to know when to get out of bounds in the two-minute drill.

Projection: Undrafted free agent.

Jordan Thompson, WR/PR, West Virginia – 2016

Positives: Generally good receiving hands and can adjust and extend well. Runs with above-average speed, acceleration, and quickness. Comes back toward quarterback to get separation and attack passes in the air. Concentrates very well on contested passes and has body control to catch a pass while being interfered with. Nimble on the sidelines. Willing to go over the middle and take a hit. Keeps his legs churning after contact for extra yards. Is a willing downfield blocker. Makes smart punt return fielding decisions.

Negatives: Small for the position. Doesn’t field punts consistently cleanly. Slowed by an ankle injury in early 2014 season. While a willing blocker, he isn’t strong enough to do much more than get in the way.

Projection: Round 7-undrafted free agent.

Jalin Marshall, WR/RB/PR, Ohio State – 2016

Postseason events: NFL Combine.

Positives: Above-average bulk for the position – built more like a running back. Above-average hand size. Runs with above-average speed and adequate lateral quickness. Accelerates well off the line. Runs adequate routes with adequate crispness in his breaks. Has generally above-average hands and can extend and get a pass at its highest point. Will also come down with difficult contested passes. Above-average acceleration after the catch. Above average balance after contact. Above-average vertical leap and lower-body explosiveness in Combine drills. Above-average ability to change directions with burst in Combine drills. Above-average upper-body strength. He was also an option quarterback in high school.

Negatives: Below-average height for the position. Inconsistent concentration – will bobble passes by turning upfield before securing the ball. His hands aren’t as good when he’s off balance. Needs to attack the ball in the air more as a receiver and complete his routes – consistently waits for the ball to get to him. Won’t get himself into good position on punts and will have to lay out to come down with them. Consistently terrible fielding decisions as a punt returner and needs to know where he is on the field. Will field it on the run in traffic at the 10-yard line or on a bounce. Also fair caught it at the 5-yard line he could have let it bounce into the end zone. Also ran backwards after muffing a punt inside the 10. Will also let the ball bounce at the 10 when he could fair catch it. Fielded on a bounce in traffic in 2015 bowl game. Below-average track speed for the position. Below-average ball security and fumbled on the goal line. Slow to press the line on outside runs. Below-average tracking of passes over his inside shoulder.

Projection: Undrafted free agent. While physically talented, he needs to work on his decision making and concentration – especially as a returner in the NFL.

Ralph Abernathy IV, WR/RB/KR, Tennessee – 2016

Transferred from Cincinnati in 2014.

Positives: Was a redshirt senior, so he doesn’t lack experience. Good speed and quickness. OK acceleration. Above-average hands. Quick feet and good stop-and-start ability. Fair concentration in traffic. More of a receiver than a runner. Good effort and balance after contact. Can pinball through traffic despite his small size. Versatile – was a running back who moved to wide receiver when he transferred to Tennessee.

Negatives: Small size. Below-average power and is usually easy to bring down one on one when a defender gets a hand on him. He loses his balance at times while making cuts and needs to stay more squared.

Projection: Undrafted free agent.

Brandon Sheperd, WR/KR/PR, Oklahoma State – 2016

Positives: Runs with above-average speed and acceleration. Runs pretty good routes, and uses his hands to get past press coverage. Generally above-average hands, and holds the ball was a big hit and catches in traffic. Tracks passes well over his inside shoulder. Adjusts pretty well to off target passes. Above-average lateral quickness with a nice jump cut in the open field. Pretty good vision and patience on kick returns. Seems strong and has good balance when he’s hit up high, and isn’t easy to bring down in the open field – even by multiple tacklers. Patient on punt returns. Above-average downfield blocker who maintains his block.

Negatives: Potentially a little contact shy over the middle and short-arms some passes.

Projection: Undrafted free agent.

Hunter Sharp, WR/PR, Utah State – 2016

Postseason events: NFL Combine and Shrine Game.

Positives: Adequate bulk and hand size for the position. He runs with above-average game speed, with good lateral quickness and open-field vision, which also showed in his pro day testing. This makes him hard to bring down in the open field. Runs above-average routes and has a pretty good double move. Adjusts consistently well to off-target and underthrown passes. Wins jump ball situations. Good and tenacious downfield run blocker. Gets downfield quickly on punt returns.

Negatives: Slightly below-average height for the position. Inconsistent hands – will let the ball get to his body pretty consistently and drop passes where he has to extend – a tendency that showed up in the Combine gauntlet drill. Questionable decisions as a punt returner and will sometimes lose yards dancing. On end around runs, he needs to cut downfield more aggressively and not stretch the run too far outside. Though his game speed and quickness are above average, those numbers at the Combine were below average. Poor vertical leap and lower-body explosiveness in Combine drills. Below-average upper-body strength.

Projection: Undrafted free agent.
