Jalin Marshall, WR/RB/PR, Ohio State – 2016

Postseason events: NFL Combine.

Positives: Above-average bulk for the position – built more like a running back. Above-average hand size. Runs with above-average speed and adequate lateral quickness. Accelerates well off the line. Runs adequate routes with adequate crispness in his breaks. Has generally above-average hands and can extend and get a pass at its highest point. Will also come down with difficult contested passes. Above-average acceleration after the catch. Above average balance after contact. Above-average vertical leap and lower-body explosiveness in Combine drills. Above-average ability to change directions with burst in Combine drills. Above-average upper-body strength. He was also an option quarterback in high school.

Negatives: Below-average height for the position. Inconsistent concentration – will bobble passes by turning upfield before securing the ball. His hands aren’t as good when he’s off balance. Needs to attack the ball in the air more as a receiver and complete his routes – consistently waits for the ball to get to him. Won’t get himself into good position on punts and will have to lay out to come down with them. Consistently terrible fielding decisions as a punt returner and needs to know where he is on the field. Will field it on the run in traffic at the 10-yard line or on a bounce. Also fair caught it at the 5-yard line he could have let it bounce into the end zone. Also ran backwards after muffing a punt inside the 10. Will also let the ball bounce at the 10 when he could fair catch it. Fielded on a bounce in traffic in 2015 bowl game. Below-average track speed for the position. Below-average ball security and fumbled on the goal line. Slow to press the line on outside runs. Below-average tracking of passes over his inside shoulder.

Projection: Undrafted free agent. While physically talented, he needs to work on his decision making and concentration – especially as a returner in the NFL.
