Roger Lewis, WR, Bowling Green – 2016

Declared early for the 2016 NFL Draft.

Postseason events: NFL Combine.

Positives: Adequate height and above-average bulk for the position, with above-average hand size. Runs with above-average speed and acceleration. Is quick off the line to get past press coverage. Generally above-average hands, and this carried over to the gauntlet drill during the NFL Combine. Extended pretty well on sideline catches at the Combine. Gives good effort for off-target passes and will lay out. Adjusts pretty well to passes thrown behind him on the move. Above-average downfield blocker who stays with his defender. Adequate track speed for the position. Adequate vertical leap and lower-body explosiveness in pro day measurements.

Negatives: Though his hands are above average, they are inconsistent and he will drop some easy ones and double clutch. Needs to go up for the ball on contested passes and not wait for it to get to him. Below-average tracking of passes over his inside shoulder. Poor upper-body strength.

Projection: Round 4.

Demarcus Robinson, WR/PR, Florida – 2016

Chiefs, Round 4. Declared early for the 2016 NFL Draft.

Postseason events: NFL Combine.

Positives: Above-average height and bulk for the position, with adequate hand size. Runs with above-average lateral quickness and good burst. Generally above-average hands and can extend well and snag fast passes. Okay downfield blocker. Knows when to get out of bounds stop the clock.  Adequate vertical leap and lower-body explosiveness for the position. Adequate lateral quickness in pro day measurements. Good ability to change directions with burst for the position.

Negatives: Though he has pretty good size, he has long legs and looks like he has some trouble changing directions. Legs are a little bit out of sync with his body and he will slip trying to make a big cut. Inconsistent concentration. Consistently below-average tracking over his inside shoulder. Below-average decisions on punt returns and will run backwards and dance too much before heading upfield. Below-average track speed for the position. Suspended four times by team during his college career and was also benched during a couple of games.

Pre-Draft Projection: Round 4 based on what I’ve heard. I would give him a later-round grade.

De’Runnya Wilson, WR, Mississippi State – 2016

Declared early for the 2016 NFL Draft.

Postseason events: NFL Combine.

Positives: Great height and bulk for the position – is big enough to be an H-back. Adequate hand size. Runs pretty good routes in general, and gets good separation by being crisp in his cuts and by routes. Can extend slightly for passes. Tracks ball very well over both of his shoulders. Can adjust well to off-target passes. Above-average concentration on contested passes, and will fight for the ball. Fair concentration over the middle. Fair balance after low contact. Above-average downfield blocker.

Negatives: Inconsistent hands – can extend, but tends to body catch, and will sometimes try to one-hand passes for no reason. Below-average quickness. Very poor track speed for a wide receiver, and below average for his size. Fairly slow off the line. Very poor vertical leap and lower-body explosiveness in Combine and pro day drills. Below-average upper-body strength. Arrested for drugs in March 2015.

Projection: Undrafted free agent.

Michael Thomas, WR, Ohio State – 2016

Saints, Round 2. Graduated early in 2015 and declared for the 2016 NFL Draft.

Postseason events: NFL Combine.

Positives: Very good height and good bulk for the position. Runs above-average routes and is pretty quick out of his breaks with crisp cuts. Completes his comeback routes to create separation from coverage. Good body control and is nimble on sidelines on difficult catches. Can adjust very well to off-target passes and passes thrown behind him. Above-average quickness and open-field vision. Makes some great catches with good extension. Will go to the ground to catch low passes. Not easy to bring down after the catch. Fights hard for yards after the catch. Fair downfield blocker.

Negatives: Runs with long strides and is a little slow off the line and uncontrolled in his lower body. Inconsistent concentration – drops some easy passes and will turn upfield before securing the ball. Will also body catch. Also has trouble coming down with contested passes and would do better to meet the ball at its highest point instead of waiting for it to come to him. Will also jump for passes when he doesn’t need to. Below-average vertical leap.

Pre-Draft Projection: Round 2.

Ricardo Louis, WR, Auburn – 2016

Browns, Round 4.

Postseason events: NFL Combine and NFLPA Bowl.

Positives: Good height and weight for the position, with adequate hand size. Runs with good speed and above-average quickness. Accelerates well off the line. Runs adequate routes and is pretty quick into his breaks on out routes – and out of his breaks on double moves. Tracks fairly well over his inside shoulder. Nimble on sideline catches. Patient after the catch and will wait for blocks to develop. Above-average vertical leap for the position. Very good lower-body explosiveness in Combine drills. Above-average upper-body strength.

Negatives: Below-average hands and concentration on easy passes. Maybe contact shy – short-armed a pass over the middle in BCS championship 2014. Consistently hesitant on outside runs, and needs to learn to just head upfield instead of stretching get farther outside. Always seems slow to get started on end around runs. Needs to keep his feet to go after the ball. Needs to stay squared making breaks and will slip at times cutting up field. Not very strong and can be thrown around.

Pre-Draft Projection: Round 7.

Keon Hatcher, WR/KR, Arkansas – 2017

Positives: Runs with adequate speed. Above-average body control and is able to turn over his outside shoulder to catch errant passes. Good ability to extend and get passes at their highest point, and can make difficult catches. Good effort for extra yards after contact. Above-average run blocker on the outside and can knock defenders off their feet.

Negatives: Doesn’t get much separation on patterns. Very inconsistent concentration – will drop some easy passes. Doesn’t seem very creative on kick returns and will just plow straight ahead. Joshua McKissic, WR/PR, Arkansas State – 2016

Postseason events: College Gridiron Showcase.

Positives: Was a redshirt senior, so he doesn’t lack experience. Runs with above-average speed. Quick feet, and has very good lateral and angular quickness. Good, quick hands. Adjusts well to off-target passes. Above-average vision for cutbacks behind the line. Shifty in the open field, with good vision for cutbacks and ability to pick his way well through traffic on screen passes and punt returns. Runs decisively after he gets the ball in his hands, and lowers his shoulder and dives for extra yards. Is a one-cut-and-go runner who doesn’t waste time dancing. Good hands on punt returns and can field the ball on the run. Willing downfield blocker. Adequate vertical leap and broad jump at pro day. Above-average upper-body strength.

Negatives: Below-average height and bulk for the position. Sometimes his feet are too quick for the rest of his body, and he loses balance in the open field. Though a willing blocker, he lacks size and strength to be very effective at it.

Projection: Undrafted free agent.

Devin Lucien, WR, Arizona State – 2016

Patriots, Round 7. Transferred from UCLA to Arizona State after he left the team in March 2015.

Postseason events: NFLPA Bowl.

Positives: Was a redshirt senior, so he doesn’t lack experience. Adequate height and good bulk for the position. Runs with above-average speed and acceleration. Above-average lateral quickness and open-field vision. Runs adequate routes, with enough quickness into and out of his breaks. Completes his comeback route to maintain separation. Fairly nimble and can get at least one foot down on sideline passes. Can hold the ball with a very big hit. Though his hands are lacking, he can extend at times – and looked a lot better in the 2015 bowl game. Above-average body control and can bring in passes thrown behind him while getting one foot inbounds. Above-average concentration when a hit is coming. Fair balance after contact and seems fairly nimble on the sidelines.

Negatives: Generally below-average hands, and tends to body catch. Needs to be more aware of the sideline, and only got one foot inbounds on a stationary pass. Head/neck injury in August 2014 and missed unknown amount of time.

Pre-Draft Projection: Undrafted free agent.
