Michael Thomas, WR, Ohio State – 2016

Saints, Round 2. Graduated early in 2015 and declared for the 2016 NFL Draft.

Postseason events: NFL Combine.

Positives: Very good height and good bulk for the position. Runs above-average routes and is pretty quick out of his breaks with crisp cuts. Completes his comeback routes to create separation from coverage. Good body control and is nimble on sidelines on difficult catches. Can adjust very well to off-target passes and passes thrown behind him. Above-average quickness and open-field vision. Makes some great catches with good extension. Will go to the ground to catch low passes. Not easy to bring down after the catch. Fights hard for yards after the catch. Fair downfield blocker.

Negatives: Runs with long strides and is a little slow off the line and uncontrolled in his lower body. Inconsistent concentration – drops some easy passes and will turn upfield before securing the ball. Will also body catch. Also has trouble coming down with contested passes and would do better to meet the ball at its highest point instead of waiting for it to come to him. Will also jump for passes when he doesn’t need to. Below-average vertical leap.

Pre-Draft Projection: Round 2.
