Damian Copeland, WR, Louisville

UDFA. Was signed by Jaguars as UDFA but was waived in August. Has the talent to stick on a roster or practice squad, but not fantasy relevant.

Positives: Adequate hand size. Fair body control when adjusting to errant passes. Adequate track speed for the position. Strong enough to fight through contact and has effective stiff arm. Willing run blocker. Willing to go over the middle. Okay balance after contact. Fairly nimble on the sidelines. Tracks passes well over both of his shoulders. Very good vertical leap, lateral quickness, and ability to change directions in Combine drills.

Negatives: Slightly below-average height and bulk for the position. Inconsistent hands and will let passes get to his body. For his size, it would be helpful if he were faster. Out due to injury most of 2011. Runs a little bit off-balance. Below-average upper body strength.

Projection: Probably won’t ever be fantasy relevant. No need to draft.

Stephen Houston, RB, Indiana

UDFA. Signed by Patriots as UDFA but released in August and signed by the Steelers, who also released him in August. But he’s talented enough to stick on some team’s roster or practice squad.

Positives: Adequate height and good bulk for the position. Above-average upper-body strength. Very good vertical leap. Very good vertical leap and overall lower-body explosiveness. Above-average power. Average speed. Patient. Above-average hands and can extend. Churns fairly well through contact. Has good body lean. Protects the ball through the line. Fair balance after contact.

Negatives: His patience borders on indecisiveness. Runs a little bit upright. Better on inside runs than outside runs. Below-average change-of-direction ability and burst. Is a long strider, and his feet don’t look quick.

Projection: No need to draft in fantasy, though.

Terrance Owens, QB, Toledo

Steelers, UDFA.

Positives: Very good height and adequate bulk for the position. Is an athletic QB with above-average speed who showed adequate overall lower-body explosiveness at pro day workout. Throws with above-average arm strength and velocity and a quick release.

Negatives: Was an only occasional starter for the team. Eyeballs receivers. Lefty QB. Forces ball into coverage consistently. Below-average accuracy. Injured left knee in September 2013 and missed unknown amount of time.

Jonathan Krause, WR/PR, Vanderbilt

UDFA. Signed as a UDFA by the Browns but was released in August. He has enough receiving ability and returner skills to make some roster or practice squad.

Positives: Above-average speed. Above-average hands catcher who can lay out and catch passes while he’s falling. Above-average downfield blocker. Good effort on off-target passes. Fairly reliable hands as punt returner and shows some patience as a returner. Good track speed. Above-average lower-body explosiveness in pro day drills.

Negatives: Slightly below-average height and bulk for the position. Doesn’t get set up quickly to field punts and makes consistently risky fielding decisions in traffic as a punt returner. Below-average concentration and drops passes when he knows a hit’s coming. Below-average upper-body strength.

Projection: No need to draft.

Taylor Gabriel, WR/PR, Abilene Christian: FCS Division

Browns, UDFA.

Positives: Above-average speed. Quick feet and is elusive in the open field. Good body control and adjusts well. Smart punt return fielding decisions. Above-average concentration in traffic. Good effort on errant passes. Above-average track speed. Above-average lower-body explosiveness at pro day workout. Above-average upper-body strength.

Negatives: Short and slight for the position. Needs to be more decisive after catching punts – going not so much east and west. Below-average ball security.

Joe Southwick, QB, Boise State

Raiders, Tryout. Has too many mechanical and decision-making shortcomings that it will be difficult for him to make an NFL roster.

Positives: Above-average quickness. Is also a fair punter. Okay short accuracy. Above-average accuracy on timing routes. Above-average speed. Moves around fairly well inside the pocket. Fair accuracy on the run. Okay arm strength.

Negatives: Ran a pistol offense and has experience with a spread offense, so he may not be ready for an NFL offense right away. Needs to learn to throw ball away. Longish windup. Suspect ball security on the run. Deep passes tend to sail. Below-average velocity. Below-average medium accuracy. Throws a wobbly pass. A little skittish in the pocket. Eyeballs receivers. Passes tend to die mid-flight. Suspect decisions and throws across body on occasion. Broke ankle in October 2013 and missed around a month. Injured in late 2013 and missed over a month. Suspended from team for 2013 bowl game for unknown team rule violation.

Projection: No need to draft.

George Atkinson III, RB, Notre Dame

UDFA. Was signed by the Raiders as a UDFA but released in August and put on their practice squad. Was a junior. I don’t see him as being consistently successful in the NFL.

Positives: Great height and adequate bulk for the position. Good speed. Above-average burst. Okay change-of-direction ability. Above-average track speed, and good for his size. Adequate hand size. Adequate upper body strength. Good burst for the position and for his size. Above-average ability to change direction.

Negatives: Suspended from 2013 bowl game for team rule violation. Built more like a wide receiver. Below-average lateral quickness.

Projection: No need to draft.

Juwan Thompson, RB, Duke

Broncos, UDFA. Is a good effort guy who can contribute somewhat to an offense. But his true value for the team would be on special teams.

Positives: Above-average hands. Adjusts well to back-shoulder pass. Above-average burst. Gets low through the line. Okay speed. Protects the ball well through the line, with both hands on the ball. Good second effort and churns through contact while maintaining balance. Experienced special-teams player who led his team in special-teams tackles in 2013. Good cutback vision and moves well laterally — with a good jump cut.

Negatives: Has some trouble extending for passes away from his body, and prefers to body catch.

Projection: Likely to make the roster and back up Ronnie Hillman as a third-down back, and could put up RB3 numbers if he starts. Worth a late-round flier in dynasty rookie drafts if you have roster space.

Joey DeMartino, RB, Utah State

Chiefs, UDFA. Enters the Chiefs roster as probably the sixth running back, so he has a ways to go before making the roster. And he seems to need to have a heavy workload to excel, which I think will be hard for him to come by anywhere.

Positives: Average speed. Above-average balance after contact. Fairly patient runner and stays on his blockers’ hips. Runs with pretty good body lean. Okay hands. Seems to get stronger as the game goes on. Okay pass blocker.

Negatives: Below-average burst. Below-average vision behind the line, and will run into contact consistently. Fairly easy to pull off his feet.

Projection: No need to draft.
