Terell Watson, RB/FB, Azusa Pacific-D2 – 2015

All-Star Games: NFLPA Game.

Positives: Great size for a halfback. Very good size for a fullback. Runs with adequate speed for the position – and above-average for his size. He also shows good lateral quickness for his size and has good cutback vision. Very good power, and, once he gets going, he is hard to bring down, and he runs with high steps that make him hard to get a hold of. Okay hands. Fair concentration when a hit is coming on a reception.

Negatives: Consistently runs too upright and is easy to stand up at the line before he gets a head of steam. Generally below-average balance making cuts, and will slip often. Slow feet. Below-average cutback ability and quickness.

Projection: UDFA. He has enough athleticism and power to make a training camp roster, and potentially make a final roster as a short-yardage back.

Tyler Varga, RB/FB, Yale-FCS – 2015

All-Star Games: Senior Bowl.

Positives: Good height and bulk for a halfback, and has huge hands. Runs with adequate game speed and burst for a running back – and good for a fullback – and his Pro Day measurements show he may be able to become faster. Fairly quick cuts and burst. Above-average balance after contact. Decisive behind the line, and is decisive to hole. Follows his blockers pretty well after screen pass. Above-average lateral quickness and cutback vision on inside runs. Okay routes. Above-average hands and can extend and adjust slightly. Runs pretty crisp routes, with above-average quickness. Is a very deceptive in his routes. Above-average hands. Above-average body control, and adjusts to errant passes well. Willing and adequate run blocker. Solid pass protector who maintains his leverage. Above-average upper-body strength.

Negatives: Slightly below-average height and bulk for a fullback. Below-average balance making cuts. Below-average power. In the open field, he seems indecisive, and will dance around too much. Below-average ball security. Short arms. Didn’t work out at Combine due to bone spur, but was ready for his Pro Day.

Projection: Round 6. The fact that he can fill in as either a running back or fullback makes it likely that he’ll find and stick on a roster.

Zachary Zenner, RB, South Dakota State-FCS – 2015

All-Star Games: Shrine Game.

Positives: Very good height  and above-average bulk for the position. Is a one-cut-and-go runner who is decisive to the hole and has adequate burst. Above-average vision and patience. Usually seems to fall forward after contact. Showed up well in pass protection drills during Shrine Game practices. Adequate hand size. Showed some versatility and coach’s trust by being the team’s wildcat quarterback. Highly productive for three years in college – with over 2000 yards each season. Smart off the field, and has been accepted to med school.

Negatives: Seems to be easy to trip up, and should run with higher knees. Below-average lateral quickness and also doesn’t have much change-of-direction ability. Seems to have below-average acceleration off of the line and after the catch.

Projection: Round 7.

Nico Steriti, RB/KR, New Hampshire-FCS – 2015

Positives: Good height and adequate bulk for the position. Has quick feet and above-average ability to stop his momentum and get back up to speed quickly. Good burst. Keeps legs churning with above-average power. Okay hands. Showed some versatility in college by being used as their wildcat quarterback. Showed some toughness when he played through a shoulder injury in 2014.

Negatives: Below-average vision, and is a little indecisive behind the line. Also indecisive as a kick returner and as a runner. Hesitates a lot and lets defenders get closer to him. Will often go sideways when he should just head upfield. Injured shoulder in November 2014.

Projection: UDFA.

Donnell Kirkwood, RB, Minnesota – 2015

Minn.: Was a redshirt senior.

Positives: Adequate bulk for the position despite his lack of height, and has a strong build. Runs with above-average speed and adequate burst and quickness. Above-average balance after contact. Is willing to sacrifice his body for extra yards. Keeps legs churning fairly well after contact. Can push the hole on inside runs and has enough vision and speed to bounce it outside. Strong lower body and finishes runs with pop. Tends to fall forward for extra yards. Okay hands. Above-average run blocker. Very good pass blocker who knocks guys off their feet. Adequate upper-body strength.

Negatives: Below-average height. Runs a little out of control. Had several injuries in 2010 and 2011. Also injured his ankle in September 2013 and missed a lot of time – never really fully recovering in 2013 – and also didn’t look the same in 2014. A lot of the positives above may not come back, and his track speed and lateral/change-of-direction quickness during his Pro Day measurements was poor.

Projection: UDFA.

Reggie Whatley, RB/KR, Middle Tennessee State – 2015

Was a redshirt senior.

Positives: Good game and track speed and above-average quickness and ability to change directions and burst. Runs with good body lean and stays squared while making moves. Maintains his balance well and churns through contact. Seems decisive on runs and kick returns. Generally makes smart kick return decisions. Willing run blocker.

Negatives: Very short and slight for the position. Below-average ball security – doesn’t keep a solid hold on the ball through traffic. Has the occasional lapse in judgment as a kick returner, and fielded a kick inside the 5-yard line and accidentally ran out of bounds there. Looks like he pushes the ball too far upfield on kick returns for trying to make moves. Pulled hamstring at Pro Day. Fairly weak upper body.

Projection: UDFA.

Michael Dyer, RB, Louisville – 2015

Transferred from Auburn to Arkansas State in 2011, then to community college in 2012 and Louisville in 2013.

Positives: Runs with above-average burst and adequate lateral and change-of-direction quickness. Has quick feet that allow him to make quick cuts. Generates enough power, and churns his feet well through contact.

Negatives: Suspended from Auburn for drugs in 2011. Dismissed from Arkansas State in 2012 for run-in with police. Limited by hernia in 2013 that required December surgery. Ruled academically ineligible for 2014 ballgame.

Projection: UDFA. It seems like, most times I wanted to watch one of his games, he wasn’t there. Not sure if he’s burned all his bridges, but he will probably at least get into a camp.

Centarius Donald, RB, Louisiana-Monroe – 2015

Positives: Runs with adequate speed and burst. Fair lateral quickness and is able to change directions behind the line to find an open lane. Runs with patience and good power once he gets going. Quick feet and is able to make slight angled adjustments as he moves. Though he doesn’t make big cuts quickly, he chooses good angles in the open field. Above-average hands. Above-average body control and can adjust to off-target passes. Above-average vision after the catch and is able to make yards after the catch.

Negatives: Needs to run with more decisiveness and burst in short-yardage situations, and also needs to learn to keep his legs churning through contact. Not a whole lot of lateral quickness in the open field. Seems to get caught by the legs a lot and may need to run with higher steps through the line. Below-average ball security when he’s fighting for extra yards. Has had three ACL tears in his college career.

Projection: UDFA.

Alonzo Harris, RB/FB, Louisiana-Lafayette – 2015

Positives: Has great height and bulk for a running back, and has solid fullback size. Runs with above-average long speed and explosiveness for the size. Is able to stick his foot in the ground and turn upfield pretty well on outside runs. Fair lateral quickness for his size. Doesn’t have to stop his momentum to be able to make a move. Above-average balance after contact. Pretty agile for his size, and is able to spin away from contact. Generates above-average power – keeping his legs churning and lowering his shoulder for extra yards. Finishes runs with pop. In short yardage situations, he is decisive and just lowers his shoulder and keeps churning to plow ahead.

Negatives: Below-average upper-body strength. Below-average burst and acceleration for a running back. Below-average vision and pushes too far into line before changing direction. Doesn’t change directions very smoothly or quickly. Inconsistent body lean – sometimes seems top-heavy and will fall with little contact, and will also run too upright through the line at times. Long strider.

Projection: UDFA.

Seitu Smith II, RB/WR/PR, Harvard-FCS – 2015

Positives: Runs with above-average quickness, burst, and speed, and is fairly agile. Adequate hands. Fair ball security and will cover up the ball after the catch in traffic.

Negatives: Runs a little bit out of control, and loses balance making cuts. Not very creative as a running back, and tends to lower his head through the line and limit his vision. Seems to have trouble in wet conditions.

Projection: UDFA.
