Donnell Kirkwood, RB, Minnesota – 2015

Minn.: Was a redshirt senior.

Positives: Adequate bulk for the position despite his lack of height, and has a strong build. Runs with above-average speed and adequate burst and quickness. Above-average balance after contact. Is willing to sacrifice his body for extra yards. Keeps legs churning fairly well after contact. Can push the hole on inside runs and has enough vision and speed to bounce it outside. Strong lower body and finishes runs with pop. Tends to fall forward for extra yards. Okay hands. Above-average run blocker. Very good pass blocker who knocks guys off their feet. Adequate upper-body strength.

Negatives: Below-average height. Runs a little out of control. Had several injuries in 2010 and 2011. Also injured his ankle in September 2013 and missed a lot of time – never really fully recovering in 2013 – and also didn’t look the same in 2014. A lot of the positives above may not come back, and his track speed and lateral/change-of-direction quickness during his Pro Day measurements was poor.

Projection: UDFA.
