WR Rueben Randle, Louisiana State

Giants, 2nd round. LSU: Junior who has declared for 2012 draft. Good size. Above-average hand size.

Positives: Adequate hands and concentration. Above-average speed, but very good for the size. Good balance after contact. Adequate upper-body strength.

Negatives: Doesn’t come out of a sophisticated passing offense, so may take time to develop. Below-average acceleration. Has difficulty getting in and out of breaks. Not very subtle in routes and needs work running under more control.

Projection: Coming out of poor passing attack, it’s hard to be sure what his potential is. Could produce like Demaryius Thomas in a year or so. With Victor Cruz and Hakeem Nicks also on the team, he probably won’t get too many chances right away. Draft as 2012 WR4 with eventual WR1 potential.

WR Mohammed Sanu, Rutgers

Junior who has declared for 2012 draft.

Positives: Strong after the catch. Good hands — can extend and make circus catches. Fairly quick acceleration. Average change-of-direction skills. Was Wildcat QB in 2010. Fair routes help him gain separation.

Negatives: Suspect ball security — doesn’t protect ball when contact’s coming.

Projection: Is still developing as a WR, but should be solid WR2 in a year or so.

WR Kendall Wright, Baylor

Positives: Above-average speed and acceleration. Moves well after the catch. Goes to ground for passes. Good hands. Nice concentration in traffic.

Negatives: Hurt ankle kept him out of Senior Bowl.

Projection: Middle of first round. Should have immediate success as a returner, and could be nice complementary receiver in right system. If he develops like Mike Wallace, should be top-10 WR for years.

RB Lamar Miller, Miami

Dolphins, 4th round. Miami: Junior who has declared for 2012 draft.

Positives: Very good speed and shiftiness. Good vision for cutback. Above-average burst. Nice balance after contact. Fair receiver.

Negatives: Not very strong in the lower body. Will have shoulder surgery after draft. Reportedly has low football IQ.

Projection: Though Reggie Bush and Daniel Thomas are currently slotted as the Dolphins two top RBs, neither have been durable. He’s at least as good as Thomas, and could give RB3 numbers right away if pressed into duty. Has the capacity to be a gamebreaker and a top-ten RB.

RB David Wilson, Virginia Tech

Giants, 1st round. Va. Tech: Junior who has declared for 2012 draft. Below-average size. Average hand size.

Positives: Good balance after contact. Legs keep churning after contact. Excellent burst. Above-average speed. Adequate lateral movement. Fairly strong and effective in short yardage. Breaks through arm tackles. Physical. Lowers shoulders to gain extra yards. Fairly solid in pass protection. Usually falls forward for extra yards. Above-average hands and can track passes well over shoulder.

Negatives: Dances behind line on occasion.

Projection: He’s one of the few RBs I’d consider drafting in dynasty leagues. Has top-15 ability, and even though the Giants didn’t run very well in 2011, they may remember how to. He will be a great replacement for Ahmad Bradshaw eventually and could be a top-ten RB for years.

WR Dwight Jones, North Carolina

Very good size. Solidly built. Average hand size. Long wingspan.

Positives: Good strength after catch. Generally very good hands. Very good concentration — caught tipped ball for TD in 2011 bowl game. Fights for ball in traffic. Very good body control.

Negatives: Dropped a few easy ones in 2011 bowl game. Sometimes tried to one-hand pass for no reason.

Projection: Late-first, early-second round. Kind of a cross between two former N. Car. WRs — Hakeem Nicks and Greg Little. Has WR1 potential.

QB Robert Griffin, Baylor

Redskins, 1st round. Baylor: Junior who has declared for 2012 draft. Average size and hand size.

Positives: Not easy to bring down. Nice deep touch and accuracy. Good velocity. Very good speed and quickness. Moves around well in pocket. Keeps eyes downfield on the run. Fair accuracy. Steps up in pocket to avoid rush. Stands in pocket under pressure. Very intelligent and has no character red flags.

Negatives: Suspect ball security in pocket and holds ball loosely on the run. Throws across body too often on rollouts. Also throws off back foot too often. Eyeballs receivers. Somewhat slow decision making, or maybe he just trusts his ability to improvise so much he’s willing to hold it.

Projection: Not as polished of a passer as Cam Newton was as a rookie, but more than other athletic QBs coming out in recent years. Has a top-10 QB future if he doesn’t get injured, but we know Shanahan will use the running game a lot to help cushion Griffin’s transition. If you miss out on Luck or Richardson at the top of your rookie draft, Griffin’s a fantastic consolation prize.

RB Trent Richardson, Alabama

Browns, 1st round. Ala.: Junior who has declared for 2012 draft.

Positives: Runs like a dervish with great power. Also finishes strong and doesn’t like to go out of bounds. Tough to bring down once he gets going. OK hands. Adequate quickness and change of direction. Average speed. Good vision. Adequate burst. Good balance.

Negatives: Much less effective when forced to bounce outside. Not effective in 2011 BCS Championship Game with minor knee injury.

Projection: Though the Browns offense has a long way to go, it still looks like a bright future. He should be top-10 workhorse-type back right away, and has top-3 talent. He’s worth the top pick in your rookie draft.

WR Justin Blackmon, Oklahoma State

Junior who has declared for 2012 draft.  Solid build.

Positives: Very good hands. Effective after the catch. Good body control. Strong. Adequate speed for size.

Negatives: Double-clutches passes over the middle at times trying to decide where to run with it. Long strider who has slight trouble making clean cuts. Character red flag — DUI arrest in 2010.

Projection: Top-five pick who should be a top-10 WR in next few years.

QB Andrew Luck, Stanford

Colts, 1st round. Stanford: Junior who has declared for 2012 draft. Great size.

Positives: Moves around in pocket to find passing windows. Agile. Good arm strength. Very good deep touch. Good rhythm in his progression reads. Adequate speed. Solid runner. Keeps shoulders squared outside of pocket. Feels rush well and is nimble avoiding it. Goes through progressions well. Fits ball into tight windows — very accurate. Tight spiral. Smooth mechanics. Nice touch. Not easy to bring down. Very good speed, change-of-direction skills and burst as a runner. Very good play fakes.

Negatives: Throws high a little too often. Sometimes tries to finesse passes that should be harder. Slightly inaccurate on run. Questionable decision-making while in the grasp.

Projection: Was drafted to be a long-term franchise QB, and that’s what he should be, but the Colts offense is starting with a lot of rookie parts, too. May not meet super-high expectations in 2012, but should do well right away. It helps that the team draft his Stanford TE and signed one of his top WRs as an undrafted free agent. And he still has Reggie Wayne there to mentor the WRs. Has the potential to be a top-5 QB for years. Feel free to draft at the top if you don’t need Trent Richardson’s help at RB.
