Synjyn Days, RB, Georgia Tech – 2015

Was a redshirt senior.

All-Star Games: Medal of Honor Bowl.

Positives: A versatile athlete who started his college career as a cornerback. Runs with adequate speed. Strong lower body, and shows above-average balance after contact. Consistently good effort for extra yards and will sacrifice his body. Fair cutback vision behind the line.

Negatives: Runs a little bit out of control – with long, lumbering strides and slow feet. Is a straightahead runner with below-average burst, lateral quickness, and ability to change directions. Seems slow to get going – especially on outside runs. Runs top-heavy at times and is easily tripped up. Below-average hands – has a hard time extending and tends to body catch. Below-average ball security technique through the line in short yardage and will hold the ball too loosely in one hand while trying to break through to the end zone.

Projection: UDFA.

Braylon Heard, RB, Kentucky – 2015

Junior who has declared for the 2015 NFL draft. Transferred from Nebraska in spring 2013.

Positives: Runs with adequate speed and burst. Has above-average vision, and picks his way through traffic at the line fairly well. Gets low through the line in short-yardage situations to supplement his limited power, and churns his legs through contact. He is patient but also decisive behind the line. Adequate hands and hand-eye coordination, and can adjust slightly to passes thrown behind him.

Negatives: Below-average height and bulk for the position. Doesn’t seem to generate much power.

Projection: Round 7.

Aaron Wimberly, RB, Iowa State – 2015

Transferred from junior college in 2013.

Positives: Runs with adequate speed and above-average burst. Okay vision for the cutback. Runs with good body lean and above-average power, and often falls forward after contact. Runs with good leverage in short-yardage situations, and fights for extra yards. Has okay hands.

Negatives: Runs a little bit out of control and lacks balance when he is making cuts. Relies on his spin move too much. Questionable decisions, and will run out of bounds when he shouldn’t. Not a very good pass blocker, and is easily steamrolled.

Projection: UDFA.

Donovonn Young, RB, Illinois – 2015

Positives: Good height and above-average bulk for the position. Has improved over his college career as a short yardage runner, and has above-average power. Pretty good second effort in goal-line situations. Runs with good balance after contact. Shows above-average open field agility and can spin away from or leapfrog tacklers. Generally adequate pass blocker. Above-average upper-body strength. Generally adequate hands.

Negatives: below-average speed, burst, explosiveness, and vision for the cutback lane. As a pass protector, he will miss guys coming up the middle and can be bullrushed. He is not a creative runner, and he seems unwilling to deviate from planned direction of play. Suspect balance making big cuts.

Projection: UDFA. Seems like he would be better served putting on a few more pounds and trying to be a fullback.

Mark Weisman, FB, Iowa – 2015

Transferred from Air Force Academy in 2014.

Positives: Good height and great bulk for a running back, and good enough for a fullback. Runs with adequate speed and burst for his size and position. He also has pretty quick feet for his size and some agility and lateral quickness – this makes him just elusive enough. Keeps legs moving after contact. He runs strong and gets low to finish runs on the sidelines. Keeps his legs moving after contact for extra yards. Generates above-average power once he gets going. Protects ball well through the line. Above-average body control on off target passes. Strong run blocker and fairly tenacious.

Negatives: His lack of acceleration behind the line limits his momentum and power in most situations. Doesn’t really even try to change directions all that much, and will generally just try to plow through defenders.

Projection: UDFA. He should at least make it into a training camp and compete for one of the few fullback positions open in the league.

Damon Bullock, RB, Iowa – 2015

Positives: Runs with adequate speed and burst and above-average acceleration. Lowers shoulder well to finish runs. Moves with a nice body lean and keeps his legs churning after contact. Also tends to fall forward for extra yards after contact. Fair vision and is very patient on outside runs. Is able to extend for passes at times. Protects the ball well through line.

Negatives: He shows inconsistent hands, and will bobble some passes. Though he protects the ball when going through the line, he has some ball-security deficiencies, and doesn’t switch hands when contact’s coming. Below-average balance making cuts, and will slip often trying to make a big cut. Concussed in early 2012 and missed several games.

Projection: UDFA.

Dee Hart, RB, Colorado State – 2015

Redshirt junior who has decided to enter the 2015 NFL draft. Left Alabama football team in January 2014 and transferred to Colorado State in July 2014.

All-Star Games: College Gridiron Showcase.

Positives: Has some patience and will wait for blocks and set up defenders. Has adequate cutback vision. Adequate hands.

Negatives: Short and slight for the position, with below-average hand size. Lacks smooth change-of-direction quickness. Doesn’t generate a lot of power after contact. Is a little bit indecisive behind the line. Below-average balance making cuts and slips often. Though his hands are okay, passes will get to his body. Was arrested in February 2014 for marijuana possession, giving false info to police, and possession of counterfeit money. Injured ACL in 2011 and again in 2012.

Projection: UDFA.

Rodriguez Moore, RB/KR, Cincinnati – 2015

Transferred from community college in 2013.

Positives: Runs with above-average speed, agility, and ability to change directions. Good burst. Is able to bounce runs outside. Runs with pretty good body lean through the line and churns through contact with adequate power. Is able to keep his balance well after contact and can pinball through defenders. Also has a nice spin move off of contact. When he blocks with leverage, he doesn’t give much ground.

Negatives: Suspect hands as a kick returner. Below-average pass blocker and is easily pushed off of his feet because he doesn’t block with leverage.

Projection: UDFA.

Larry Dixon, FB, Army – 2015

All-Star Games: Shrine Game.

Positives: Adequate height and great bulk for the position. Pretty good balance after contact. Churns his legs fairly well after contact for extra yards. Willing downfield run blocker. When he can just drive into defenders, he will push them back well.

Negatives: Doesn’t have much burst or enough momentum to generate power to push the pile and break through the line. Below-average quickness and change-of-direction ability. Has some trouble as a run blocker when he has to change course and cut off defenders due to his lack of quickness. Below-average ball security technique through the line and needs to be protecting with both hands. Small hands.

Projection: UDFA.

Julian Hayes, RB, Southern Connecticut State-D2 – 2015

All-Star Games: FCS Senior Scout Bowl.

Positives: Runs with adequate speed and burst. Has above-average power – keeping his feet moving well after contact. Also shows nice agility and a spin move away from contact. Gets low in short yardage to tunnel through the line. Above-average vision for cutback on both inside and outside runs. Pretty decisive behind the line.

Negatives: Below-average hands. Below-average body control, and has trouble adjusting to off-target passes. Suspect concentration, and will double-clutch passes. Runs a little off-balance at times. Suspect pass protection ability and effort. Dismissed from Monmouth in 2013 for team/university rule violation.

Projection: UDFA. He probably has enough talent to get a look as an undrafted free agent. Not sure he has enough to stick on an NFL roster, though.
