Donovonn Young, RB, Illinois – 2015

Positives: Good height and above-average bulk for the position. Has improved over his college career as a short yardage runner, and has above-average power. Pretty good second effort in goal-line situations. Runs with good balance after contact. Shows above-average open field agility and can spin away from or leapfrog tacklers. Generally adequate pass blocker. Above-average upper-body strength. Generally adequate hands.

Negatives: below-average speed, burst, explosiveness, and vision for the cutback lane. As a pass protector, he will miss guys coming up the middle and can be bullrushed. He is not a creative runner, and he seems unwilling to deviate from planned direction of play. Suspect balance making big cuts.

Projection: UDFA. Seems like he would be better served putting on a few more pounds and trying to be a fullback.
