Aaron Burbridge, WR/KR, Michigan State – 2016

49ers, Round 6.

Postseason events: NFL Combine and Senior Bowl.

Positives: Adequate height and above-average bulk for the position. Gets pretty good positioning against defensive backs in the red zone, and will shield the ball from defenders. Though his hands are inconsistent, he tracks well over his head and fairly well over his inside shoulder. Can extend very well at times, though, and far away from his body. Is able to go to ground for off-target passes. Above-average concentration in traffic. Showed fair body control and nimbleness on sideline drills at Combine. Above-average upper-body strength. Versatile, and was also the team’s wildcat quarterback.

Negatives: Small hands. Below-average game and track speed for the position. Generally inconsistent hands – will drop some easy ones and have trouble extending or adjusting for others. Below-average concentration and will drop easy ones where he turns upfield before securing the ball. Will also drop contested passes. Needs to go up and get the ball instead of letting it hit him in the chest. Poor vertical leap and lower-body explosiveness for the position. Poor ability to change directions with burst.

Pre-Draft Projection: Round 4. This is based on what I’ve heard. To me, he looks like a late-round pick or free agent.
