Was a redshirt senior. Son of Joe Montana. Started college at Notre Dame, but transferred to Washington. Transferred from Washington to Mt. San Antonio junior college in 2011. Transferred to Tulane for 2013.
Positives: Runs an up-tempo offense. Above-average accuracy on short patterns. Fairly accurate on the move. Throws with nice touch. Keeps his eyes downfield and often waits until the last-second on the run to throw. Above-average speed. Moves around well in the pocket, and is fairly elusive.
Negatives: Ran a spread offense with a lot of read-option plays, so he may not be ready for an NFL offense. Below-average mechanics and accuracy on the rollout and is also a little indecisive outside of the pocket. Eyeballs receivers a lot, and misses a lot of wide-open reads along the sidelines. Has a three-quarter release and throws with below-average arm strength and velocity – his deep passes tend to die early. Often throws into coverage under pressure. Arrested for underage drinking in 2010.Injured shoulder in late 2013, but started the bowl game. Lost starting job to a freshman in 2014 season.
Projection: UDFA.
