Chris Bonner, QB, Colorado State-Pueblo-D2 – 2015

All-Star Games: Medal of Honor Bowl.

Positives: Very tall 6’7″ height for a quarterback, which will obviously help him see the field, and also has good bulk. Gets set up in the pocket quickly enough despite his size. Above-average accuracy within 10 yards of the line. Above-average accuracy rolling out to the left or right when he actually squares his shoulders to the target. Throws a very catchable pass with nice touch and tight spiral – even on deep passes.

Negatives: Even though his deep passes look very nice, their accuracy is below average, and he will underthrow receivers and potentially lead to interceptions. He also has a lot of the deficiencies expected in a super-tall quarterback. In addition to looking a little bit ridiculous under center, he also has some trouble reeling in his momentum on the move – once he starts moving, he doesn’t always set his feet and will lose a lot of accuracy as a result. Also throws with below-average accuracy on fade routes. Generally poor decisions in the red zone and will throw to the covered receiver instead of the obviously uncovered ones. Despite his size, he doesn’t see the field very well in the red zone. He also locks onto receivers and will miss much better options down the field.

Projection: UDFA.
