QB Wes Carroll, Florida International

Below-average size.

Positives: Mechanics are improving since 2010. Fair pocket awareness and rolls away from pressure well. Willing runner. Has experience as holder on FGs.

Negatives: Stares down receivers. Slow stepping out from under center. 3/4 release. Below-average mechanics. Throws several passes falling backwards. Below-average zip because he doesn’t step into throws. Below-average speed and quickness. Needs to know when to step up in pocket. Makes poor decisions once outside pocket. Inaccurate at all levels. Seems unwilling to throw over middle. Misses wide-open reads.

Projection: Undrafted. May get a tryout, but won’t stick on a roster.

QB Matthew Faulkner, San Jose State

Positives: Throws catchable pass, with nice spiral. Adequate velocity. Performed well when Casino del Sol game was on the line, and was game MVP.

Negatives: Poor decisions under pressure. Often misses wide-open reads. Doesn’t look comfortable under center, and fumbled snap in Casino del Sol game. Poor TD/INT ratio in college. Consistently throws high. Eyeballs receivers. Below-average accuracy and lacks touch on intermediate throws over LB. Not a strong runner. Throws into triple coverage. 3/4 delivery. In Casino del Sol game, threw bad INT on short pattern to DL.

Projection: Undrafted. May get a tryout, but won’t stick on a roster.

QB Troy Weatherhead, Hillsdale

QB Ryan Colburn, Fresno State

Saints, UDFA. Fresno St.: Slightly above-average size. Poor speed. Average quickness. Lefty QB with 3/4 release. Ran pro-style offense. Very focused under pressure. Weak arm. Good timing on slant patterns. Willing to run, but isn’t fast. Takes a while to get set up in pocket. In NFLPA Game practices, seemed to have trouble with accuracy at all levels. Lacks velocity. Fumbled without hit in 2010 bowl game as well as in the NFLPA Game. Fumbled snap twice in NFLPA Game. Does he have small hands? At NFL Combine. Drafted by UFL’s Sacramento team with 3rd-overall pick in draft.

Sets up in pocket well. Average accuracy and arm strength. Below-average reads. Locks on receiver too often. 3/4 release. Makes poor decisions under pressure. Fumbled snap during bowl game. In Eastham Energy Game. Bears, Jets, Falcons, Chiefs, Panthers, Jaguars and Bills have shown interest.

RB Johnny White, North Carolina

Bills, 5th round. N. Car.: Average size, speed and quickness, though he shows some nice change of direction in games. Goes to team with solid RBs at top but no depth, so could easily stick as backup. Has eventual fantasy RB3 potential.

RB Jay Finley, Baylor

Bengals, 7th round. Baylor: Average height, but below-average bulk. Fairly quick and speedy, but only average track speed. Average power with average upper-body strength. Explosive lower body strength. Keeps legs churning in short yardage. In NFLPA Game, but DNP. Average hands at best. With team’s unsettled Cedric Benson situation, he could contribute right away as short-yardage back and goal-line option. Not going to beat out Scott for position, but could replace Brian Leonard.

RB Jamie Harper, Clemson

Titans, 4th round. Clemson: Good size. Average speed. Below-average quickness and change of direction. Above-average upper-body strength. Junior who has declared for the 2011 draft. Willing blocker. Experienced receiver who adjusts well to underthrown passes. Runs a little too upright and doesn’t get leverage in short yardage. Dances too much. At NFL Combine. Enters very deep RB corps and is only likely to stick as team’s RB4. Long-term fantasy RB3 potential as long as Chris Johnson’s still around.
