Mitch Mathews, WR, BYU – 2016

Positives: Very tall for the position, with 6’6″ height and great bulk – built like an H-back. Great hand size. Runs adequate routes considering his build. Good hands and body control – extends well and will lay out for passes. Fair concentration on contested passes. Above-average track speed for the position, and good for his size. Adequate vertical leap and good overall lower-body explosiveness.

Negatives: Lanky build and doesn’t change directions very well. Below-average upper-body strength. Maybe a little contact shy – will short-arm some slant passes over the middle. Will also try to one-hand catch passes when he could have used both.

Projection: Round 6.
