Geronimo Allison, WR, Illinois – 2016

Transferred from community college in 2014.

Postseason events: NFL Combine and Shrine Game. Late-week addition to Senior Bowl.

Positives: Very good height for the position, with adequate hand size. Though his hands were inconsistent, he extended well in the gauntlet drill and other drills at the Combine. Fair concentration on contested passes. When running routes, he is able to stop his momentum pretty quickly to make breaks, though lacks burst out of his cuts. Good effort on off-target passes. Patient on end around runs. Adequate downfield blocker. Above-average lower-body explosiveness in Combine drills.

Negatives: Below-average bulk for the position, with a lanky build. Runs with long strides and has difficulty controlling his lower body to change directions. Needs to stay squared while making his cuts, and consistently slips trying to change direction. Not much lateral quickness. Isn’t very deceptive as a route runner and his double moves don’t have much suddenness to them. Needs to complete his routes to create separation coming back to the quarterback. Will sometimes jump for passes when he doesn’t need to. Inconsistent hands when he has to extend or when he has to adjust to passes thrown behind him. Needs to go up and get the pass instead of waiting for it to get to him. Even when he jumps for a pass, he sometimes lets it hit him in his chest. As a blocker, he has a hard time staying with defenders laterally. Below-average track speed for the position. Below-average vertical leap in Combine and pro day drills. Poor ability to change directions with burst in Combine drills.

Projection: Undrafted free agent.
