Cody Core, WR, Mississippi – 2016

Bengals, Round 6.

Postseason events: NFL Combine and Shrine Game.

Positives: Good height and above-average bulk for the position. Great hand size. He is a long strider with above-average speed and good quickness off the line. Not afraid to go over the middle. Finishes his hitch routes to create separation. Tracks well over his inside shoulder. Shows slight ability to extend for passes away from his body. He showed better hands in the gauntlet drill at the Combine. Adjusts pretty well to passes thrown behind on the move. Nimble enough to be able to get both feet down on sideline passes. Adequate track speed for the position, but above-average for his size. Above-average vertical leap at pro day, an improvement over his poor Combine test. Above-average ability to change directions with burst in pro day tests. Adequate upper-body strength.

Negatives: Generally below-average hands and concentration on contested passes. Tends to body catch and doesn’t catch passes as well very far from his body. Needs to be more aware of where the sideline is after the catch. Poor lower-body explosiveness in Combine and pro day drills. Poor lateral quickness in pro day tests.

Pre-Draft Projection: Round 6.
