Charone Peake, WR, Clemson – 2016

Jets, Round 7.

Postseason events: NFL Combine and Senior Bowl.

Positives: As a grad student, he has earned a lot of experience. Good height and above-average bulk for the position. Runs with adequate game speed and above-average track speed for the position – and very good for his size. Runs above-average routes, with a nice in route and quickness out of his breaks. Nimble on the sidelines. Generally above-average hands – catches with hands and extends very well to snag fast passes. Tracks well over his outside shoulder. Adjusts consistently well to passes thrown behind him. Fair jump cut, lateral quickness, and vision in the open field for yards after the catch. Not easy to bring down. Adequate downfield blocker. Adequate vertical leap and lower-body explosiveness in Combine drills.

Negatives: Though his hands are pretty good, he shows inconsistent concentration on easy passes, and will let some go through his hands when he turns upfield before the catch. Below-average hand size. Below-average ability to change directions with burst in Combine drills. Below-average upper-body strength. Tore ACL in September 2013, had surgery and missed rest of season, redshirting season. Then injured knee again in July 2014 and had surgery, missing unknown amount of time.

Pre-Draft Projection: Round 4.
