Mike Thomas, WR, Southern Mississippi – 2016

Rams, Round 6.

Postseason events: NFL Combine and NFLPA Bowl.

Positives: Above-average height and adequate bulk for the position. Great hand size. Runs with above-average game speed and acceleration, and good for his size. Accelerates well off the line. Fairly smooth in his routes and doesn’t telegraph where he’s going. Nimble on the sidelines and can get both feet down. Generally good hands and can extend well and consistently. Tracks passes well over his inside or outside shoulder. Is able to adjust to back-shoulder passes. Above-average vertical leap for the position. Good lower-body explosiveness in Combine and pro day drills. Very good lateral quickness in pro day tests. Above-average ability to change directions with burst in Combine drills. Above-average upper-body strength.

Negatives: Sometimes lets the ball get to his body. Below-average lateral quickness. Below-average quickness into and out of his breaks and will sometimes lose his balance. Has a hard time locating the ball at times. Looks a little bit uncoordinated on the move – always looks like he’s on the verge of tripping. His Combine timing numbers were a lot better than his pro day numbers – maybe indicating an inconsistency in effort.

Pre-Draft Projection: Round 5.
