Brandon Wegher, RB, Morningside-NAIA – 2015

Former transfer from Iowa and Oklahoma.

All-Star Games: Medal of Honor Bowl.

Positives: Adequate height and bulk for the position. Runs with above-average speed, burst, and lateral quickness. Pretty patient on both inside and outside runs and will wait for lanes to develop. Is also decisive on his cuts and can take advantage of small creases in the line. Pretty quick feet and ability to make quick cuts. Will lower his shoulders into defensive backs and knock them over. Churns through contact on inside runs with adequate power. Pretty agile in the open field with pretty good spin move. Protects the ball with both hands through the line. Above-average upper-body strength. Willing pass protector. Ran for over 2600 yards and nearly 40 touchdowns in 2014 at the NAIA level.

Negatives: Though a patient runner behind the line, he still seems to lack cutback vision on inside runs. Has below-average hands and concentration even on easy passes. Though he’s a willing pass protector, he’s not very strong at it. Needs to run with higher knees through the line to avoid tripping. Had off-field issues at both Iowa and Oklahoma, including domestic assault, public intoxication, and academic ineligibility.

Projection: UDFA.
