Darryl Surgent, WR/PR/KR, Louisiana-Lafayette

UDFA. Signed by Chiefs as a UDFA but was released in August and put on their practice squad. His best bet to make a team is as a returner, but has enough receiving skill to contribute somewhat to an offense.

All-Star Games: NFLPA Collegiate Bowl.

Positives: Adequate hand size. Above-average speed and acceleration. Above-average hands as a receiver, and will extend well for passes away from his frame. Gets upfield really quickly on returns and receptions, and he doesn’t waste much motion going left and right. Is able to make some difficult catches over his shoulder on punt returns.

Negatives: Below-average height, with slightly below-average bulk for the position. Inconsistent hands on punt returns and will bobble some punts that should be easy. Below-average quickness and balance, and is slow in and out of his breaks. Is also not very subtle in his breaks, and his arms telegraph when he is making a cut.

Projection: No need to draft, but keep an eye on him.
