Rams, 5th round. Vanderbilt: Short for the position, but adequate bulk. Below-average hand size.
Positives: Fair agility and spin move. Adequate track speed. Above-average speed and burst. Above-average power — keeps legs churning through contact and breaks arm tackles. Finishes runs aggressively. Though seldom showing it in games, he showed very good change-of-direction ability at Combine. Very patient. Fair cutback vision. Good upper-body strength. Good run blocker downfield. Is versatile — was also Vanderbilt’s Wildcat QB.
Negatives: Below-average ball security — needs to protect ball through line. Runs a little upright. Needs to be more decisive in short yardage situations. Needs to attack line more decisively to take advantage of his power. Dances too often behind line. Not very creative or elusive and seems unwilling to change directions. Suspect balance making cuts. Below-average hands when extending.
Projection: Seems to be destined to be a backup on Rams. Will likely be Terrence Ganaway’s backup at the beginning. No need to draft, but has RB3 potential if he starts, which I think is doubtful.
