QB Jarrett Lee, LSU

Chargers, UDFA. LSU: Below-average size. Great hand size.

Positives: Though he ended his career as a bench player, started several games over college career. Fair accuracy on rollout. Gets set up in pocket quickly.

Negatives: Throws off back foot often with little pressure. Lacks accuracy and touch on deep passes. Tends to eyeball receivers and miss open reads. Below-average anticipation — doesn’t throw receivers open. A little lazy with ball handling on the run. Below-average speed and lacks quickness. Looks indecisive as a passer, and double-clutches often. Appears to rush throws.

Projection: Currently one of only three QBs on roster, but doesn’t have NFL-quality tools.

QB Dominique Davis, East Carolina

Falcons, UDFA. E. Car.: Above-average size and hand size. Brother of former Bears TE Desmond Clark.

Positives: Fairly accurate on timing patterns and shows adequate touch. Adequate arm strength. Has the athleticism to escape from the rush. Above-average speed. Can make plays when protection breaks down. Keeps eyes downfield when outside of pocket. Looks off safety on over-the-middle passes.

Negatives: Poor mechanics. Doesn’t set feet to throw on the run. Long wingspan, which seems to seriously elongate his delivery. Little experience taking snaps under center. Consistently poor accuracy. Stares down receivers. Doesn’t read coverages well. Tends to lock onto receiver and miss better options. Consistently makes poor decisions and throws into coverage a lot. Tends to only look for short outlet pass when flushed out of pocket.

Projection: Not good enough to unseat John Parker Wilson as 3rd QB, but may latch on somewhere as a long-term developmental QB or practice squad player. Probably won’t ever be fantasy relevant.

QB Nick Stephens, Tarleton State

Titans, UDFA. Tarleton St.: Very good size. Average hand size. Cowboys have shown interest.

Positives: Above-average arm. Throws nice deep ball with touch. Is able to go through progressions to find secondary receivers. Adequate velocity on his passes.

Negatives: Below-average accuracy both in the pocket and when flushed outside. Uncoordinated on rollouts and doesn’t set feet, which resulted in an INT in the NFLPA Game. Overthrows often. Throws into coverage often. Seems to feel pressure too easily and throws while falling backwards.

Projection: May compete with Rusty Smith for 3rd QB position, but probably won’t beat him. May have enough skills to latch on somewhere as a backup, but won’t ever be fantasy relevant.

WR Daryl Stonum, Michigan

Positives: Very good speed. Good hands and can go up and high-point passes. Runs crisp routes. Good concentration even when he knows hit is coming.

Negatives: Has had two DUI run-ins in college, and was suspended indefinitely in spring 2011. Also spent time in jail on two occasions for probation violation. Redshirted 2011 season. Dismissed from team in mid-January 2012.

Projection: Undrafted — mostly due to character red flags. Likely will get into a camp and has the skills to be a contributor. Has starting potential if he stays clean.

QB Stephen Garcia, South Carolina

Solid size.

Positives: Good touch. Shifts around in pocket well to escape pressure. Nice touch and accuracy outside pocket. Athletic. Much more effective outside of pocket. Willing to take a hit. Keeps eyes downfield when outside pocket.

Negatives: Little under-center experience, ran a spread offense in college. Fairly weak arm. BA speed. Not much zip on throws. Can’t read coverages. Takes too many chances with ball. Doesn’t make good decisions under pressure. Throws ball across body too often, resulting in INTs. Streaky accuracy. Not NFL quality. Eyeballs receivers and often doesn’t see wide-open WRs. Suspended twice in spring 2011 but reinstated in summer. Has had run-ins with the law. Kicked off team for good in October 2011 after failed alcohol test.

Projection: Undrafted. Will get a camp invite, but doesn’t have NFL tools.

QB Barrett Trotter, Auburn

Below-average size. Junior who has declared for 2012 draft.

Positives: Above-average speed. Great effort — was blocking for RB 50 yards downfield in bowl game. Adequate arm strength. Above-average velocity. Moves fairly well in pocket. Nice play fakes.

Negatives: Little under-center experience, since he ran a spread offense in college. Little to no starting experience. Lacks touch on deep passes. Below-average accuracy when under pressure. 3/4 release. Holds ball too long.

Projection: Undrafted, and probably won’t be able to stick on a team.

QB Dan Persa, Northwestern

Buccaneers, UDFA (Tryout). Northwestern: Short for the position, with adequate bulk. Average hand size. Was starter in 2010 before missing last three games with rupturing Achilles.

Positives: Adequate velocity. Willing to run it.

Negatives: Below-average accuracy. Shows almost no escapability. Below-average arm strength. Throws low a lot, combined with downward throwing motion. Long windup. Misses open reads on deep routes. Eyeballs receivers and has trouble going through progressions — looks panicky when first read is covered.

Projection: Doesn’t have NFL skills. Not fantasy relevant.

RB Daryl Richardson, Abilene Christian

Below-average size. Average hand size. Bengals RB Bernard Scott’s half-brother. Positives: Reportedly: elite speed and burst; above-average quickness; above-average pass blocking ability. Projection: I have not actually seen him play, so this report will change a lot once I do, but the lack of hype around him makes it sound like he’ll be undrafted.

TE Robert Housler, Florida Atlantic

Robert Housler, TE, Cardinals, 3rd round. Fla. Atlantic: Average size. Very good speed, tracking, arm length and concentration. Quick off the line. OK hands. Average upper-body strength. Below-average routes and has a hard time changing direction. Similar to Dan Gronkowski. Goes to team with no established TEs and a young QB who will need a safety net. Could have immediate and long-term fantasy TE2 impact.

TE/FB Charles Clay, Tulsa

Charles Clay, TE/FB, Dolphins, 6th round. Tulsa: Short for the position, with H-back bulk. Very experienced receiver — more so than as a runner. Nice routes. Hands catcher with good vision. Slightly below-average speed and quickness. At NFL Combine as TE, though he looks more like a FB to me. Mike Mayock has compared him to Aaron Hernandez, though I see more Dorin Dickerson. Has same problem as Dickerson — where to play him? Could be FB, TE, H-back, or RB. Could play all of those in Dolphins offense. May have immediate impact on team with no established TEs. Solid TE3 right away, with TE2 potential.
