Soma Vainuku, FB, USC – 2016

Postseason Events: Shrine Game and NFL Combine.

Positives: Was a redshirt senior. Adequate height for the position and very good bulk for the position. Adequate hand size. Protects the ball with both hands through the line. Is strong enough to fight through arm tackles. Adequate hands and concentration – can adjust to back-shoulder passes. He runs with above-average track speed for his size and for a fullback. Above-average upper body strength for the position.

Negatives: Below-average vision behind the line – he lowers his eyes and will consistently run into his own blockers. Lacks creativity and leg drive as a running back. Inconsistent concentration as a receiver, and he will fight easy passes. Doesn’t get leverage as a pass protector on impact. Below-average track speed for a running back. Below-average vertical leap and poor broad jump for the position, indicating a lack of explosiveness. Poor lateral quickness and below-average ability to change directions with burst in pro day tests.

Projection: Undrafted free agent.
