Jaxon Shipley, WR/PR, Texas – 2015

Positives: Adequate height and bulk for the position. Runs with adequate speed, quickness, and explosiveness. Has good, quick hands that can snag fast passes. Shows above-average body control and hand-eye coordination, adjusts well to errant passes, and can also catch passes while falling down. Makes generally smart punt return fielding decisions in traffic. Seems willing to go over the middle.

Negatives: Though his lateral quickness seemed fine in games, he showed poor lateral quickness at his Pro Day. Doesn’t get much separation in his routes. Not much of a blocker – is able to get in the way as a downfield blocker but doesn’t initiate contact or drive defenders. Has the occasional lapse in judgment on punt returns, and tried to return one from inside the 10-yard line in 2014 bowl game. Weak upper body and has a harder time with press coverage. Concussion in September 2014, though he didn’t miss any time.

Projection: Round 7.
