Michael Burton, FB/TE, Rutgers – 2015

Was a redshirt senior.

All-Star Games: Medal of Honor Bowl.

Positives: Has adequate height and good bulk for a fullback. Runs with adequate speed for the position and size, and shows some lateral quickness to stay with quick defenders as a blocker. Okay hands and body control and can adjust slightly to passes thrown behind him. Seems pretty determined as a run blocker and will stay with his defender through the whistle. When he is on the field, the running game will almost always go where he is blocking. Is a willing – though not especially effective – pass protector. Very good upper-body strength.

Negatives: Too short and slight for an H-back or TE. Seems to lose leverage easily upon impact as a pass protector. Runs a little too upright behind the line. Suspect ball security and seems to hold the ball too loosely.

Projection: Round 7. Doesn’t seem exceptional in any area, but his hard work and general competency might land him a roster spot as a special teamer.
