Eric Ward, WR, Texas Tech

Tex. Tech.: Was signed by the Titans as a UDFA right after the draft, but waived after rookie minicamp. Has the talent to make some team. He has good hands and after-catch ability to be a good contributor out of the slot if he gets an opportunity.

All-Star Games: NFLPA Collegiate Bowl.

Positives: Though he has below-average height, he has above-average bulk and a solid build. Adequate hand size. Above-average hands and can extend to catch passes away from his frame. Good effort on off-target and contested passes and is willing to dive for ball. Tracks passes over his shoulder well. Has vision for yards after the catch. Fights for yards after contact. Good balance after contact. Above-average routes. Above-average quickness and pops out of his breaks when running routes. Willing downfield blocker.

Negatives: Slightly below-average height. His hands don’t gently accept passes as much as they stop them. Is not as quick into his breaks while running routes as he is when he is coming out of his breaks, and has to dial down a lot. He was injured in late-week NFLPA game practices and didn’t play in the game.

Projection: No need to draft, but he’s someone to keep an eye on for later.
