Texans, 3rd round. Ohio St.: Above-average size and hand size.
Positives: Good effort after catch. Gets upfield smoothly after reception. Nice body control. Above-average routes and gets good separation. Fights off press coverage well. Good downfield blocker. Had experience as punt returner in Senior Bowl practices. Very good track speed. Quick into breaks. Adequate upper-body strength.
Negatives: Below-average hands — ball occasionally gets to body and has some trouble extending. Below-average ball security — fumbled in 2011 bowl game without a hit. Cut route short in Senior Bowl, resulting in end zone INT.
Projection: Enters a run-heavy offense with Andre Johnson and Kevin Walter ahead of him on the depth chart. Probably won’t start in 2012, but could replace Walter by 2013 — if he can beat out undrafted free agent WR Dwight Jones. I actually had Jones rated ahead of Posey before the draft, and I think Jones eventually wins that battle off of physical talent. Draft Posey as a 2012 WR5 with WR3 potential after a year of experience.
